  • I have always admired this alien piece of architecture, primarily because of its 'breathing' exterior, but also because of the deeper rooted meaning instilled within it. It is Ann Demeulemeesters' concept store located in the Gangnam district of Seoul, and stands as a testament to the Neo-medieval designer whose clothing is just as inspirational as the facade in which it's displayed. I show immense compassion for Mass Studies architecture firm, who built this relic as a sanctuary of glorification, to a designer who deserves such critical recognition.

The architects successfully incorporate as much nature as possible into the building within the constrains of a low-elevation, high-density urban environment. The building defines its relationship between the natural and artificial by amalgamating the two so literally. The building, a representation of all that is artificial in nature ends up 'wearing' the natural elements of our environment, symbolising a harmonious integration of both nature and fabrication. It represents the positivity of combining rather than isolating man and nature.
